Not a Crime, But Kills

Deforestation is the activity of clearing the forest cover or trees on a larger extent without replacement. The result of this exercise often leads to deforestation of the quality of land, weather and even climate.

The primary culprits in the deforestation exercise are loggers who are acing in legal and illegal instructions. Studies indicate that the world has had approximately half of the forest cleared through loggings where no new trees have been planted.

That can be translated into 18 million acres of land and it represents such a great loss to the environment

Tree harvesting is not a criminal act, but the policy of environmental sustenance necessitates that when trees are cut down they need to be replaced with new planted ones. The question is, is the replacement taking place, especially in Adamawa state where activities of cutting of Madrid trees reached its peak living our forest empty.

According to the World Bank about 3.9 million square miles (10 million square kilometre) of forest have been lost since the beginning of 20th century. In the past 25 years, forests shrank by 502,000 square miles (1.3 million square miles) an area bigger than the size of South Africa

In 2008 the Guardian reports that every second a chunk of forest equivalent to the size of football field is lost, that is worrisome.

It is no longer news that cutting trees is putting human in danger, because there are variety of environmental downsides associated with it which includes:- deforestation, loss of habitats and effects of carbon monoxide among others. If that occurs the environment will no longer be productive, agriculture will be affected, grazing will be down. Without these activities poverty will be high, if poverty increases, crime will grow and live and properties will be loss at the end chaos will take over, like what we are witnessing now, especially farmer/harder clash, insurgency, ethnic clashes among others

The loss of tress and other vegetation can cause climate change, desertification, soil erosion, fewer crops, flooding, increase in greenhouse gases in the atmosphere and host of problems to the people. It is therefore very important  for governments at all levels to among other things make laws to encourage reforestation to ensure that trees are protected to safe our environment for our own good. With that we can reduce the risk of climate change and other challenges associated with cutting down trees indiscriminately so that humanity will be safe
