Fighting Desert Encroachment: Adamawa State Pupils To Plant Over 275,000 Trees

 


   
Over 600 primary schools has been selected for mass tree planting campaign in Adamawa state to address desert encroachment and other environmental challenges created by indiscriminate felling of trees and other human activities

In a campaign organized by GREEN ENVIROMENTAL SOLUTIONS a non governmental organization in collaboration with Adamawa State universal basic education board the project will cover 25 primary schools in each local government area of Adamawa state and 22 different variety of trees to be shared to each school

The planting campaign is to be conducted in three years where economic and non economic trees will be planted for social and economic growth

 Adamawa state is one among many states in Nigeria bedeviled with the challenges of climate change hence the campaign by GREEN ENIROMENTAL SOLUTIONS and other development partners

“ Sustainable tree planting is one out of many solutions that we can use to curb the negative effects of climate change and its impacts on us” says Malam Awal Ibrahim Kwaja executive Director GREEN ENVIRONMENTAL SOLUTIONS (GESOL) at the flag off ceremony of 2022 tree planting campaign held at Mustafa primary school Yola town

The Yola campaign was honored by the chairman Adamawa SUBEB and other dignitaries and trees were shared to pupils to plant and nurse them till they grow a method GESOL says was deliberate to catch them young and inculcates the habit of tree planting in the minds of future leaders for the good of present and future generations




G4G gathered GESOL began tree planting campaign in Adamawa state since 2017 and planted 2,280 trees in Maiha local government area out of which 1,381 survived
